PSU Faculty Association
PURPOSE

The Faculty Association is governed by the Faculty Planning Committee which consists of the officers and committee members. We sponsor various activities and events in support of the non-academic side of campus life.

ACTIVITIES
Opening General Faculty Meeting

Refreshments are provided for this annual academic year opener. This is a time to get pumped for the new year, meet people you've missed over the summer, greet the new faculty, and hear the President's annual welcome.

Steak Fry

This is the social event of the year, held after the start of each fall semester. With paid membership for the current academic year, you get one free ticket and can buy one guest ticket (see your building representative to get your tickets - use link at left). The "Steak Fry Committee" is one of the more prestigious committees to serve on. The Chair of the Steak Fry Committee is Jim Triplett.

The 2008 Steak Fry will be held Tuesday September 16, 2008 at 5:30 p.m.
under the East Stadium.

All paid-up Association members who wish to attend the 2008 Steak Fry can receive a free ticket and also purchase one guest ticket for $10. If you have not yet paid your $20 for 2008-2009 dues, you may pay by sending a check made out to "PSU Faculty Association" to the Cashier's windows in Horace Mann or to your Building Representative.

If you prefer chicken instead of steak, please let your building representative know when you obtain your tickets at the start of the fall semester. They will need to denote your choice when turning in your RSVP and payment.

Apple Day Convocation

An annual event since "forever", Apple Day is our link to the past. In commemoration of our founders, we provide apples for all attendees. See the photo above left.

Honoring Retirees and All-Faculty and Unclassified Staff Dinner

Each spring we honor retiring faculty with a gift during the All-Faculty Dinner. This is an opportunity for all to come together for a great evening and to also be a part of the only University function that recognizes the service of retiring faculty.

How to Become a Member

Membership dues are $20 for an academic year. Payment of membership for one academic year (currently 2008-2009 ) allows you one free ticket to the fall steak fry during that academic year.

Please send your check for $20 to the Cashier's Office in Horace Mann or via campus mail! We also take memberships at the Opening Faculty Meeting and you can pay your Building Representative.

Wondering if your dues are paid? Check with the Treasurer (see contact list below) or use the link at the left to see if you are paid!

How to Become an Officer

Elections for a new pair of committee members are held each spring and officers are selected from within the Committee. The Vice-Chair typically succeeds to the Chair position (if they have another year to serve or are re-elected) each year. In contrast, the Secretary/Treasurer typically serves multiple years (as long as elected) to maintain continuity.
