Jill Minneman, director of ticket operations at Pittsburg State University, has been helping sell tickets on campus for more than a decade.

If it was an event involving the Gorillas and you wanted to see it, Jill was probably at the window selling you the ticket.

“It’s a great job because you get to see so many wonderful people,” said Minneman. “Playoff time is especially exciting because of the enthusiasm of our fans. There’s nothing quite like walking into a packed student center at 7 a.m. and seeing fans lined up to get their seats.

This year, for the first time in recent memory, students and fans will be lining up in a new location to get their tickets.

“We’ve moved the office into the Weede Physical Education Building,” explained Minneman. “It will be bit of an adjustment for our fans but I really think it’s a great move. We have more room, better parking and the ability to serve more people.”

The office is now located on the west side of the Weede, just inside the double doors that lead to the stairwell.

The office’s move isn’t an unusual one, according to Jim Johnson, Pittsburg State’s director of athletics.

“More than 95 percent of our ticketed events involve athletics,” Johnson explained. “We (Pittsburg State) were one of the only schools in the MIAA to not have our ticket office in athletics. It’s better from an administrative standpoint, but more importantly I think it will be better for our fans.”

Minneman says the move has allowed her to open two additional service stations.

“We really only had room for two window stations and two phone lines,” said Minneman. “We’ve been able to add an additional window station and phone line, which should cut down on wait times. I think once people get used to it, they’ll really like the new location.”

The first big test of the new location will come on August 9, when fans will be able to pick up their tickets for football and volleyball games.

Season tickets are on sale now and can be purchased in person, by phone at 620-235-4797, or online at pittstate.edu/tickets.
