Several student groups at Pittsburg State University have joined together to sponsor a series of safety-themed events this week to help students prepare for spring break, which runs March 16-20.
The theme for this year’s Safe Spring Break Week is “What Is Your SPF (Sexual Protection Factor)?” Activities run throughout the week of March 9. Each day at noon, Safe Spring Break Kits will be distributed either on the Oval or at the Student Center, depending on weather. Other events include:
Wednesday, March 11:
* 5 p.m. – Free BBQ and mini-golf at Lincoln Park Shelter No. 3 near Four Oaks Golf Course. The barbecue is sponsored by Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol. Mini-golf is sponsored by Gorillas In Your Midst.
Thursday, March 12:
* 8 p.m. – A “Time Warp” dance sponsored by the Residence Hall Assembly will be held in Dellinger Underground. A “Best Costume through the Decades” contest will be held.
Safe Spring Break Week is sponsored by GAMMA, Gorillas In Your Midst, Campus Activities, University Athletics, Student Health Services, Greek Council, Residence Hall Assembly, Student Activities Council, Student Prevention and Wellness, and the Substance Abuse Focus Group.
