Nursing students offer healthy living tips at Career Expo

November 07, 2008 12:00AM

Hectic lifestyles and tightening budgets can result in the neglect of personal health when people think they lack the time or money to take care of themselves. However, members of the Graduate Student Nurse Organization at Pittsburg State University say they can help, offering advice and a chance to win $150 in gas.

"How to Get the Most out of Your Money, Mileage and Metabolism" will be the theme of the nurses' booth at the PSU Health, Human Services, and Recreation Career Expo, to be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in Overman Student Center.  Students who visit the booth can register to win up to $150 in free gas.

The nursing students will present a number of ways to eat healthy, manage time and manage money. Students who visit the booth will be able to have their body mass index checked to see how they fare against others in their age and height group. They will also see some cheap and healthy meal ideas.

The event is free and open to all Pittsburg State University students. Many other organizations and companies will be present at the fair, which is hosted by PSU Career Services.
