More than 200 students from 24 high schools in Kansas and Missouri are expected to participate in the annual Family and Consumer Sciences Day at Pittsburg State University on Monday, Nov. 21. PSU's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences hosts the event to not only introduce prospective students to their programs, but also to educate students about a variety of career options they may not be aware of.
Cris Elliott, a member of the FCS faculty and coordinator of the event, said students will learn about five program areas: interior design, fashion merchandising, early childhood development, teacher education, and individual and family management.
In addition to learning about careers and academic programs, students will tour the campus, see a typical dorm room and eat in the student dining hall.
