Public Library Chamber Music concert set for Dec. 3

December 03, 2010 12:00AM

The Pittsburg State University Department of Music will present a free chamber music concert at 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3, at the Pittsburg Public Library at 4th and Walnut streets in Pittsburg. The concert is part of the Public Library Chamber Music Series.

The concert will feature students and ensembles under the direction of Dr. Selim Giray. The program will include works of Bach, Schubert and Ysaye.

Giray said performing in the library helps make chamber music more broadly available to people in the community, including some who might not attend a concert in McCray Recital Hall on campus or at Memorial Auditorium.

It is a less formal and more intimate venue, Giray said. He noted that in previous library concerts, audiences have included everything from cowboys to youngsters.
