Gorillas in Your Midst, a peer health education group at Pittsburg State University, and the Student Prevention and Wellness program have planned activities on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 17-18, in observance of the Great American Smokeout 2010.
On Wednesday, the group will grill and distribute free hot dogs on the Oval from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. With the hot dogs, the group will also distribute quit kits to smokers. Student organizations will also gather signatures on a petition in support of making the campus totally smoke free.
On Thursday, the group will staff an information table from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in the Overman Student Center. In addition to the free quit kits, information will be available on a variety of topics, including smoking cessation classes and how to help a friend stop using tobacco.
