Pittsburg State University President Steve Scott has announced the appointment of Victoria White as the university’s legislative liaison. White is the director of the PSU Kansas City Metro Center in Lenexa, Kan.

“Dr. White is well-suited to working with the Kansas Legislature on issues of importance to Pittsburg State University,” Scott said. “We are very pleased she has agreed to take on this responsibility.”

The legislative liaison, at the direction of the president, represents the university in activities involving or related to state and local governmental officials. This work is especially important, Scott said, in light of state budget issues that will be before the Kansas Legislature when it convenes in January.

White came to PSU in 2006 as an associate professor in the Department of Special Services and Leadership Studies. She served as interim chairperson of that department and then as interim chairperson of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction before being named director of the Metro Center in 2007.

White holds a bachelor’s degree in logopedics, a master’s degree in Communicative Disorders and Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Communicative Disorders and Sciences, all from Wichita State University. She is a member of the Council for Exceptional Children and the Kansas Association for Colleges of Teacher Education.
