Dr. Scott to address community, campus on first day as president

06/29/2009

It will be a productive first day for the next president of Pittsburg State University, as Dr. Steve Scott meets with community and campus leaders, constituents, and students.

As the 9th president of PSU, Dr. Scott will officially take office July 1. Because of an MIAA CEO meeting in Kansas City on July 1, his first official day "on the job" at PSU will be Thursday, July 2. Multiple group conversations, which will give the president an opportunity to hear from various parties interested in the well-being of the university, are scheduled throughout the day. A formal inauguration will be held this fall.

The president's schedule for the first day on the job is as follows:

  • 8 a.m. - Arrival to Russ Hall. Students, employees, and community members will await President Scott's arrival and opening remarks in front of Russ Hall.
  • 8:15 a.m. - Breakfast "meet and greet" for employees and community leaders in the Office of the President.
  • 8:45-9:30 a.m. - Community and campus leader conversation, Room 301 of Russ Hall. The roundable discussion will give the president an opportunity to introduce himself and share his goals for PSU and the challenges ahead.
  • Noon - Private luncheon for Pittsburg State University donors.
  • 2 p.m. - Coffee conversation with PSU student representatives. The president will meet in the U-Club of the Overman Student Center for a conversation with a panel of students to answer their questions about PSU.
