The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, Chapter 213 at Pittsburg State University was chartered on May 8, 1979. PSU President Dr. James B. Appleberry, PSU PKP President Dr. Linda McCoy and Dr. Arthur Rezny, Board of Directors, Regiona Vice President from Phi Kappa Phi International signed the charter papers during a special presentation with the original Crimson & Gold Ballroom within the Overman Student Center.

Phi Kappa Phi Chapter 213
Pittsburg State's Phi Kappa Phi Chapter was chartered in 1979, but the national society dates back well over 100 years. Originally called the Lambda Sigma Eta Society, it was later renamed Phi Kappa Phi from the letters of the Greek words forming its motto, Philosophía Kraeítõ Phõtôn, "Let the love of learning rule humanity."
Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. It's chapters are on more than 300 campuses in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines.
Today, Phi Kappa Phi recognizes and promotes academic excellence in all fields of higher education and engages the community of scholars in service to others.
