Serving the University in its Second Century
As Pittsburg State University enters its second century of service, it is imperative that the University receive a broad range of perspectives in developing the long-range plans and strategic position. Further, as the University competes for resources, it is vital that a strong advocacy group be formed to focus its effort at the state and national level.
The Pittsburg State University Centennial Commission is formed to serve as advocates for PSU and to provide advice and counsel to the President and other University leaders on a broad range of issues relating to the strategic direction and positioning of the University.
Members of this group will be referred to as Centennial Commissioners and will be twelve to eighteen in number, appointed by the President, meeting one to two times per year. Centennial Commissioners will be individuals of noted stature and achievement representing a wide spectrum of business, industry, education, and public service. The University will seek a broad geographical representation on the Commission. PSU alumni status will not be required. Commissioners will serve staggered, four-year terms that may be renewed for a total of eight years of service. Initially, one-half will be appointed for two-year terms and one-half for four-year terms with the University President appointing the chair and vice chair of the commission. Thereafter, the commissioners will elect the chair and vice chair. Terms of office for officers will be two years. |
