Resources for Students

  • The Writing Center @ PSU offers free writing consultations for students, faculty, and staff at any stage of the writing process for any writing project.  Writing Center consultants are experienced writers who are committed to helping you achieve your writing goals.  This service is located on the first floor of the AXE Library behind the periodicals.  Our experienced writers are eager to help you achieve success in your writing projects. 
  • Tutoring services among various disciplines are also available across campus.  These tutoring services offer services to non-major and majors within their disciplines.  These services are also available to students of disciplined related Writing to Learn classes.   
  • The LibGuide off the AXE library webpage also provides additional writing resources to students along with offering resources for various other disciplines.  
  • The AXE library besides the traditional role of lending books and viewing of periodicals, they also offer a variety of other services. 
    • This library offers resources from numerous databases off their website.  A search of physical materials and digital materials located within the AXE library is searchable through the Summon search off the AXE library main page. 
    • This library also has a huge collection of government documents of national, state and local level.      
    • The AXE library is also home to the Special Collections and the University Archives.  These collections contain mostly primary resources that may not be available elsewhere.  A catalog of the collections is available on the Special Collections webpage.  Materials are viewable during operating hours, which is normally open Monday thru Friday 8-12am & 1-5pm.  An advanced request to view these collections is also helpful.     
    • Finally, the AXE library has access to materials within other Kansas libraries through Interlibrary loans
  • The Pittsburg Public library also enables PSU students to acquire a library card with them.  This enables users to lend their materials along with utilize their databases.  Their database, Learning Express Library, provides tutorials ranging from beginner to advanced level in various computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, etc.
  • Computer labs are also available across campus.  These labs differ in their operating hours and rules regarding usage.  Make sure to bring paper, because some labs require users to bring paper.  Some of these labs also offer assistance in helping utilize various computer related technology. 
  • The Career Services at PSU also offers help on writing resumes and other career related items.
