WELCOME TRANSFER STUDENTS
Pittsburg State University accepts credit from all regionally accredited U.S. institutions and all Ministry of Education approved international institutions. PSU also accepts military course credits evaluated by the American Council on Education, AP and CLEP examination credits.
To receive an official transcript evaluation, the student must request official transcripts be sent to PSU from all previous institutions attended. Faxed transcripts from the individual schools may be used for a preliminary evaluation, but official copies of all transcripts will be required before transfer credits are applied to the official PSU transcript. An evaluation will be provided to the student when all courses on the transcript have been evaluated.
International transcripts must be in English and accompanied by course descriptions in English.
Barbara Van Becelaere, Assistant Registrar for Transcript Analysis, may be e-mailed at bmvan-be@pittstate.edu. It is important to send transcripts at least one month prior to your planned first semester at PSU in order for your advisor to be aware of how your transfer work will apply to your PSU degree.
TRANSFER ARTICULATION/POLICY
Students transferring to PSU with an Associate of Arts or an Associate of Science may meet general education requirements through one of two options, transfer articulation or by completing the general education courses as listed in the catalog. Eligible students may choose the method best suited to their program. (hyperlink gen ed courses to http://www.pittstate.edu/office/registrar/general-education-degree-requirements.dot )
Eligibility for transfer articulation is dependent on and subject to meeting the criteria set by the Kansas Board of Regents. PSU reserves the right to decide the applicability of transfer course work to the degree program. Acceptance of transfer credit toward major/degree requirements is at the discretion of the major department. (hyperlink trans articulation to http://www.pittstate.edu/admission/undergraduate/trarticulation.dot )
Courses transferred from other 4 year institutions will be designated as lower or upper division according to the original institutions numbering system. Courses transferred from 2 year institutions will be denoted as lower division credits. Courses retain the credit hour value taken at the original institution except for the adjustment of courses taken at an institution that operates on the quarter hour system.
