The Center for Student Accommodations provides support services to bright, highly motivated students with Learning Disabilities or Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorders who realize they can succeed with hard work and the appropriate supervision.
The following is a list of some of the services provided by the Center for Student Accommodations:
1. Provide testing modifications such as:
- Provide extended time periods for test taking.
- Read multiple choice and true-false tests verbatim.
- Read and explain what is being asked on short answer or essay tests.
- Read and define words on a test (if appropriate, depending on nature of the test).
- Write or type responses provided by the student on short answer or essay tests.
2. Provide assistance to students in understanding and completing assignments.
- Read and explain the assignment to the student.
- Help the student understand his/her class notes.
- Write or type responses provided by the student.
- Provide study skill strategies.
- Direct students to appropriate university support services.
To qualify for the services at the Center for Student Accommodations:
- Apply for admission to Pittsburg State University.
- Visit the campus. Request to visit with an assistant in the Center for Student accommodations during your visit.
- Send a copy of your most recent Individual Education Plan (IEP), 504 plan, or documentation from your school or doctor stating the nature of your learning disability or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder.
- Once on campus, contact the Center for Student Accommodations for an appointment.
