Advisory Council for Research and Scholarship

This Council is charged with:
- assessing the needs and the strengths of faculty in research and scholarship areas;
- providing guidelines that promote research and scholarship;
- establishing procedures that can effectively organize and systematize the work of the Office of Continuing and Graduate Studies and Research;
- sharing their own expertise and interests in order to mentor and support faculty who wish to use their knowledge;
- planning incentives for research and scholarly proposal development;
- encouraging publication and presentation of research and scholarly work; and
- coordinating and monitoring scholarly publications of the University.
Affirmative Action Committee

The Committee's duties include:
- Review the content and progress of PSU ' s AA Plan and Program, making recommendations as appropriate .
- Assist in information dissemination process regarding the Plan .
- Assist the EO Office in communicating with PSU regarding AA.
- Assist in the development of programs to encourage AA and EO.
- Advise and assist in development of AA policies and eliminate discriminatory practices.
- Serve as liaison between the constituents and office of EO.
- Assist in assessment of reasonable progress toward the goals of equal opportunity at PSU.
- Review new developments in AA/EE.
- Assist in all other matters requested by EO office, offices of VP ' s and/or the President.

Brand Marketing Council

This Council, representing the entire campus, is charged with examining current marketing trends, establishing identity standards to build consistent image and brand awareness, developing strategies to promote the desired image for PSU. The Council will help position this university in both the short-term and long-term with integrated marketing communication strategies to enhance the image and visibility of PSU.

Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee

This Committee is charged with the responsibility of ensuring compliance with APHIS Guidelines: assisting faculty, staff and students with those problems relating to animal care, as well as problems arising out of the use of animals as research and instructional subjects on the campus; reviewing and investigating concerns from public; and, recommending changes in any aspect of research facilities animal program, physical facilities or personnel training.

Joint University Student Publications Board

This board charge shall be:
- To advise the publisher (the President of the University) and advisors on any matters involving either operating procedures or journalistic standards in the daily operation of the student publications;
- To approve major policy decisions relative to operating procedures and journalistic standards in the day-to-day operation of each publication, as well as other matters such as, but not limited to, changes in format and frequency of issues;
- To hear charges concerning violation of operational procedures, journalistic standards and/or journalistic freedom as they relate to the daily operation of student publications
- To approve the annual budget request recommended by each advisor and editor based on sources of funding and expenditures as noted on standard budget request forms used by the University;
- To make appointments to the Editor-in-Chief positions for each publication from among applicants recommended by the advisor;
- To remove editors or staff personnel in due process hearings.

Performing Arts and Lecture Series (PALS) Committee

The committee shall plan, facilitate and implement high quality performing arts and lecture programming for the cultural, social and educational enrichment of the Pittsburg State University and surrounding community at an affordable cost. The nature of PALS programming shall include live performing arts and lecture performances in the areas of classical and popular music, theater, dance, folk life, live literature, contemporary issues, and related multi-disciplinary arts and entertainment. PALS programming shall strive for the presentation of well-rounded and balanced series of events to include public performances and an educational forum.

Student Judicial Board

The Board is charged with the responsibility of investigating and evaluating the factors involved in each case and making recommendations to Jeff Steinmiller, who is the University Judicial Officer, for action.

University Critical Incident and Crisis Response Planning Committee

- Make recommendations to the President for philosophic and policy based crisis response planning, management, and evaluation;
- Recommend a unified crisis response plan involving internal and external resources;
- Consider operational issues such as communication, training and development, maintenance of ongoing preparedness, aftermath management, and data management/ record keeping; and
- Integrate existing policy into recommendations.
University Diversity Council

- Provide advice and counsel to the President and President's Council on matters of diversity.

- Provide leadership in developing, coordinating and promoting professional development programs for faculty and staff related to issues of diversity.
- Advocate for resources to support campus diversity initiatives.

- stimulating faculty interest and participation in women's studies;
- evaluating departmental course offerings for inclusion in the program;

- recruiting faculty to participate in the program; and
- validating the credentials of candidates for the Women's Studies Certificate.
