The Veteran’s Day Holiday is Tuesday, November 11, 2014 and is an official State of Kansas Holiday; however, it is a regularly scheduled work day for Pittsburg State University and all classes are in session.
For employees who work this holiday, special time and leave reporting should be followed as this is an exception to our normal reporting guidelines.
Non-exempt and exempt university support staff employees that work on the holiday will earn compensatory time credit at one and one-half times the hours physically worked (1.5) in addition to the regular holiday credit. University support staff employees that do not work will still earn the regular holiday credit and do not need to report any leave time.
Non-exempt and exempt unclassified employees, that accrue annual leave and work the Veteran’s Day Holiday, will be eligible for compensatory time credit. Exempt unclassified employees shall earn time for time (1.0). Non-exempt unclassified employees will earn credit at one and one-half times (1.5) for each hour worked. If the employee does not work, the employee must report vacation, sick, or other leave time and does not earn the holiday credit.
No additional action is needed for Faculty. Unless they are absent on Veteran's Day, they will need to report sick leave.
Please see your department’s timekeeper for help with this special reporting or visit the Human Resource Services webpage: http://www.pittstate.edu/office/hr/employee-benefits/holidays---veterans-day.dot for links to more information and examples.
