Veteran's Day Holiday Credit - State Holiday But Classes Are In Session At PSU

Benefits-Eligible Classified Employees (exempt and non-exempt) that work on the Veteran's Day Holiday, Wednesday, November 11, 2009, are eligible for compensatory time or compensation at one and one-half times the hours worked on the holiday.

Benefits-Eligible Non-Exempt (hourly) Unclassified Employees that accrue annual leave (i.e. vacation) that work on the Veteran's Day Holiday, Wednesday, November 11, 2009, are eligible for compensatory time or compensation at one and one-half times the hours worked on the holiday.

Beginning in 2008, Exempt (biweekly) Unclassified Employees that accrue annual leave (i.e vacation) that work on Veteran's Day will be eligible for compensatory time off at the rate of time (1.0) for time (1.0) worked to be used at a later date.

Exempt (biweekly) Unclassified Employees that do not earn annual leave (i.e. vacation) do not receive additional compensation.

Unclassified employees are required to work on a holiday when classes are in session (e.g. Veteran's Day). If an Unclassified Employee does not work on Veteran's Day or any holiday in which classes are in session, that employee must report appropriate leave (i. e., sick leave or vacation leave) and will not receive holiday credit.

Eligible employees must complete a timesheet or report time in GUS Time and Leave (exempt employees only) to receive the appropriate credit.  If the employee uses a paper timesheet, use the appropriate codes listed below.  If the exempt employee reports time in GUS Time and Leave, select the "HCF" code and enter hours worked on Veteran's Day.  The HDE code will be pre-populated in GUS.

In addition to the HDC/HDE code use:
HCP-- Comp Time Earned system will calculate hours at 1.5 for each hour entered
HDP-- Pay for hours worked. The system will calculate rate at 1.5 for each hour entered
HCF--Comp Time Earned- Exempt, Bi-Weekly employees at the rate 1.0 for each hour entered

Timekeepers:  The HDC/HDE holiday code will be pre-populated in SSH and GUS Time and Leave.
