Connie Malle

Director, University Housing

 Connie grew up in Pittsburg, Kansas and has worked at Pittsburg State University her entire career in Student Affairs related areas.  She is a proud three-time Pittsburg State alumna with degrees in business and human resource development, and she wouldn’t have it any other way!

Connie has a multitude of experience in Student Affairs including numerous renovation projects across campus, student activities, overseeing the student center, facilities, and housing.


Our director truly enjoys the opportunity of working with students every day and sharing in their educational experience.  Connie appreciates the overwhelming support the university and the surrounding Pittsburg community has for the spirit of Pittsburg State that is displayed, on a regular basis. Once a Gorilla, Always a Gorilla!

Melissa Beisel

Associate Director, University Housing

A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Melissa serves as the Associate Director for University Housing. Melissa received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri and her graduate degree in counseling with an emphasis in student affairs from the University of Nebraska—Kearney.

Melissa is in her second tour with Pittsburg State University. She previously worked as an Area Coordinator. In between her stops in Pittsburg, Melissa worked as a Complex Director at the University of Kansas.

 Melissa chose to return to Pittsburg State because of the family atmosphere of the University Housing office where she feels she can make great connections with students and her co-workers. She enjoys the ability to make a difference in the lives of students as well as witnessing the pride the faculty, staff and students have in being a Pitt State Gorilla.

Luis F. Aranda

Area Coordinator, University Housing

 A native of Chicago, Illinois, Luis serves as Area Coordinator of Dellinger, Willard and Trout (in the interim) Residence Halls. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Luis joined the University Housing team in 2010 after receiving his master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas.

 Luis joined the PSU team after an exhaustive search and found the right fit in Pittsburg. The family atmosphere and the Gorilla spirit left a mark on him after visiting campus. In his third year at Pittsburg State, Luis enjoys coming to the office and working with students and staff who love their school and are eager to embark on adventure.

 At Pittsburg State, Luis enjoys the think tank that is working in the University Housing office where he can bounce ideas off his fellow area coordinators in a collaborative effort to better the day-to-day experience of their residents. Having the autonomy to run his residence halls the way he sees fit gives Luis the energy and excitement he needs to be successful each and every day. While at PSU, he has been able to work in a plethora of activities including the restructuring of resident assistants’ training, facilitating an RA seminar and instructing a freshman experience class, founding a student organization and assisting in the campus orientation for students and their families. Luis loves the support he receives from the leadership team to find and implement new and innovative ideas.

Luis and his wife’s favorite places in Pittsburg include Tropical Sno Hawaiian Shaved Ice, Napoli’s Italian restaurant, softball at Lincoln Park and exploring the four-state area.

Corey Ipock

Area Coordinator, University Housing

 A native of Festus, Missouri, Corey serves as Area Coordinator of Crimson Commons. A graduate of Missouri University of Science and Technology, Corey joined the University Housing team in 2013 after receiving his master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northwest Missouri State

University. Corey joined the PSU team after being impressed by the collaboration displayed by the profession staff team during his on campus interview as well as the excitement that everyone in the department had for their positions and the department. 

 At Pittsburg State, Corey says he loves the autonomy in his position and the ability to take on new initiatives within the department. Corey believes that he has been able to pursue projects within many area, such as hall governance advising and staff selection that he may not have had in his other opportunities.

 In Pittsburg, Corey enjoys taking advantage of the recreation center on campus, visiting the mall in town, and watching movies at the local movie theater. His favorite restaurants in Pittsburg are Mall Deli, Freddy’s Frozen Custard, and The Corner Bistro.

Ash Sahni

Area Coordinator, University Housing 

A native of Overland Park, Kansas, Ash joined the team in January 2013 and serves as the Area Coordinator for Tanner Complex and Trout Hall. Ash is no stranger to Pittsburg State University as he completed his undergraduate degree from Pitt State in 2009. He received his Master’s degree form the University of Central Missouri in 2011. 

Ash was very excited to come back to Pittsburg State University to work as a professional. The school spirit amongst the students, staff, and alumni is something that was always special to Ash. The pride the university community has for being gorillas is something Ash feels is unmatched at other institutions. 

Ash enjoys the family feel from the department and university. The support from staff and students has been a big key to his success. He loves the culture of the office noting the balance of working independently but always being able to lean on teammates for help for was perfect for his professional development. Ash also loves that the institution has a strong student centered approach in small and big picture projects.

 Ash and his wife enjoy making the quick trip to Joplin, Missouri for shopping. Ash also enjoys taking advantage of the fun right on campus including the student recreation center, Gorilla athletics, and playing with his cat, Donut. Ash’s favorite places to eat in town include Typhoon (Thai Food), Harry’s Café for breakfast, and the recently opened Buffalo Wild Wings.

Jesse Briscoe

Area Coordinator, University Housing

 A native of Moberly, Missouri, Jesse serves as Area Coordinator of Nation and Bowen Residence Halls. A graduate of the University of Central Missouri, Jesse joined the University Housing team in 2013 after receiving his master’s degree in Sport Management from Wichita State University. 

Jesse joined the PSU team after picking up on the strong welcoming atmosphere from the staff, students, and community during his interview on campus. He was also drawn to the high level of student involvement and organized and stable housing department. Jesse enjoys how Pittsburg State University receives a ton of support from the local community as well as the loyal alumni base. He likes how departments at Pittsburg State work well in collaboration with each other while always keeping the students in mind in decision-making. The campus and town together have a welcoming and caring environment which has helped Jesse feel right at home in Pittsburg, Kansas. 

To relax, Jesse can be found at Lincoln Park, in Pittsburg, playing slow-pitch softball throughout the year. He also enjoys the surrounding neighborhoods by campus for nightly walking and running. Browsing the local thrifts stores and antique shops are also on list of fun places to be. For restaurants, Jesse enjoys The Corner Bistro, Yoselin’s (Mexican), and the Mall Deli.
