Configuring your E-Mail client to use on-line folders

What are the benefits of changing my e-mail setup?
If your e-mail client is set to store your mail on your PC's local hard drive, several important features will be available if you convert:
- Your e-mail will live on the mail server and will therefore get backed up every night.
- You will have access to all your e-mail - new and saved - from home or anywhere else you have Internet access. No VPN or complex configuration required!
- You may be able to set up your mobile device to send and receive e-mail. If your mobile device supports "SMTPS" and "IMAPS" e-mail protocols, you can have simultaneous and parallel access to all the same e-mail folders from your mobile device.
- Communications between your local or remote PC and your e-mail account will be encrypted and secure. It happens automatically.
How can I tell if my e-mail is stored on my local PC or is already being stored on the mail server?
If you know about and use the "RoundCube" web mail interface, then you're already all set to storing messages securely on the mail server! Otherwise, to determine your settings, log into GorillaMail. If you see the same folders and messages you see on your PC, then you are already storing your mail on the server and have access to it when off campus. If you don't see all the folders that you use on your PC's e-mail client, then your mail is stored on your local PC's hard drive.
