What is ANGEL?

ANGEL is an Internet-based Learning Management System (LMS) which makes online teaching and learning easily accessible to instructors and students.

ANGEL enables instructors to easily distribute course information such as the syllabus, course reading materials, web links to informational articles, slide shows, videos and other relevant online content.

Depending on the tools the course instructor decides to make available to the students, ANGEL enables them to:

  • take surveys, quizzes, and tests;
  • send and receive course mail;
  • post messages to threaded discussions and chat rooms;
  • upload assignments using online drop boxes;
  • check course progress and grades at any time during a course.

ANGEL can function both as a complement to traditional courses and as a site for distance learning.

Compatibility

ANGEL is designed to support a wide variety of client-side operating systems and client-side browsers. The following products are formally supported and tested:

  • With PCs running Windows OS: Internet Explorer, Firefox and Mozilla
  • With Macs running OS X: Firefox and Mozilla

Instructor use of ANGEL

Instructors have great flexibility in the design and setup of each course in ANGEL.  They are not required to use ANGEL and can determine the program features they use. Therefore, students may not find every course they are enrolled in available on their ANGEL homepage.  Instructors may post only a syllabus and grades or they may send emails, post discussion groups, assignments and exams for a course.

Please note that instructors are able to select the courses they want available in ANGEL. The course shell is created, then the instructor can begin to add content and build the course. The instructor has the ability to disable the course until they are ready for the student to have access.

*Instructor support of ANGEL is provided by their Instructional Support Consultant.
