Each year PSU has several fun (and FREE) events in the first two weeks of the Fall semester.  This is a great chance for new students to get to know each other and the Pitt State culture.  It's also a wonderful opportunity for returning students to reconnect to the University.  Below are the events for 2014.

Saturday, August 16

  • Warrior Weekend Registration - 9:00 AM at Student Recreation Center - Add a little adventure to your first weekend in Pittsburg. Enjoy paintball, rappelling and lunch - sponsored by the Kansas Army National Guard
  • TRON Glow Stick Dance - 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Lindburg Plaza - There will be great music and lots of fun to keep you busy on your first official night in Pitt - sponsored by Residence Hall Assembly

  • Fraternity Recruitment Begins - For more information, visit the Greek Life page here.  Registration deadline is August 10.

Sunday, August 17

  • Pool Party - 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center - Grab your suit and your friends for swimming and Little Ceasar's pizza.  A shuttle will be running from the Point at the Overman Student Center or there is parking available at the Aquatic Center - sponsored by Student Success Programs, Career Services and the Campus Activities Center

Monday, August 18

  • Classes begin

  • Just Ask - 7:45 AM to 2:00 PM at the bronze gorilla near the Oval and Cleveland Plaza - Need to find a building?  Need to figure out what class you're supposed to be going to?  Have other questions?  Stop by the table to chat with some friendly PSU staff - sponsored by Student Success Programs
  • Snack Break - 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Oval - Enjoy a quick snack in between classes - sponsored by Campus Christians
  • Beat the Heat with a Frozen Treat - 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on Cleveland Plaza - Get to know some new people and pick up a frozen snack - sponsored by the Office of Student Diversity
  • Opening Night - 8:00 PM at Lindburg Plaza - Relax after your first day of classes with some great activities and music - sponsored by Student Activities Council

Tuesday, August 19

  • Community Fair - 10:30 AM to 1 PM in the Oval - Meet lots of great businesses and organizations from the Pittsburg community.  This is a great way to find out what the town of Pittsburg has to offer, and there are usually some great freebies!
  • Hispanics of Today Kickoff Meeting - 5:00 PM in the Prairie Room of the Student Center - Get to know these HOT students
  • Native American Student Association Kickoff Meeting - 6:00 PM in the Prairie Room of the Student Center - Find out everything you need to know about NASA 

Thursday, August 21

  • Black Student Association Kickoff Meeting - 6:00 PM in Hughes 316 - Find out what BSA has going on this semester
  • Campus Christians Kickoff Meeting and Ice Cream Floats - 8:00 PM in Grubbs 109 - Come find out more about Campus Christians and get a sweet treat

Friday, August 22

  • Fraternity Bid Day - 12:00 PM at the Campus Activities Center
  • Ice Cream Craze - 7:00 PM at the Crimson Commons Courtyard -  Enjoy a scoop or two of ice cream - sponsored by Residence Hall Assembly
  • Game Night - 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM at the Campus Christians House - Fun games plus music, ice cream sundaes and s'mores - sponsored by Campus Christians 

Monday, August 25

  • Snack Break - 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Oval - Enjoy a quick snack in between classes - sponsored by Campus Christians
  • Enactus Kickoff Meeting - 5:00 PM in Kelce 121 - Learn more about this community of student, academic and business leaders
  • BSA, HOT & NASA Social - 7:00 PM in the Balkans Room of the Student Center - It's a great time to get to know some more people on campus and everyone is welcome at this mixer so stop by to see who's around - sponsored by Black Student Association, Hispanics of Today, and Native American Student Association

Wednesday, August 27

  • Hypnotist - 7:00 PM & 9:00 PM (2 showtimes) in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom - Don't miss the show everyone will be talking about in class - sponsored by Student Activities Council

Thursday, August 28

  • Transfer Student Cookout - 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Gorilla Village - This event is exclusively for our new transfer students. RSVP to Penny at pcook@pittstate.edu by August 21 - sponsored by Tau Sigma National Honor Society for Transfer Students
  • Cookout - 7:00 PM at the Campus Christians House - Enjoy a barbecue and some friendly faces - sponsored by Campus Christians
  • Game Night - 7:00 PM in the Balkans Room of the Student Center - Take a chance and meet more people during this evening of boardgames - sponsored by Black Student Association
