Each year PSU has several fun (and FREE) events in the first two weeks of the Fall semester.  This is a great chance for new students to get to know each other and the Pitt State culture.  It's also a wonderful opportunity for returning students to reconnect to the University.  Below are the events for 2013.

Saturday, August 17

  • Glow Stick Dance - 8 PM to 10 PM at Lindburg Plaza - There will be great music and lots of fun to keep you busy on your first official night in Pitt - sponsored by Residence Hall Assembly

Monday, August 19

  • Classes begin

  • Just Ask - 7:45 AM to 2:00 PM at the bronze gorilla near the Oval and Cleveland Plaza - Need to find a building?  Need to figure out what class you're supposed to be going to?  Have other questions?  Stop by the table to chat with some friendly PSU staff - sponsored by Student Success Programs
  • Beat the Heat with a Frozen Treat - 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Cleveland Plaza - Get to know some new people and pick up a frozen snack - sponsored by the Office of Student Diversity
  • Opening Night - 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Lindburg Plaza - Live music, free food, wax hands and photo booth - sponsored by Student Activities Council

Tuesday, August 20

Wednesday, August 21

  • Community Fair - 10:30 AM to 1 PM in the Oval - Meet lots of great businesses and organizations from the Pittsburg community.  This is a great way to find out what the town of Pittsburg has to offer, and there are usually some great freebies!
  • Run Your Art Out Fun Color Run/Walk (REGISTRATION FEE for this event) - 7:00 PM - For more information, click here.

Thursday, August 22

  • Get Down in Pitt Town - 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Pritchett Pavilion (106 W. 2nd Street) - Free food, great music and discounts at local businesses.  Requires PSU Student ID. Shuttles will be running between campus (the Overman Student Center) and the pavilion - sponsored by Student Success Programs, Athletics, Career Services, Admission and Campus Activities Center

  • iSpy Challenge - 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM - register at Pritchett Pavilion. Requires PSU Student ID. - Teams of 3 to 5 students will try to complete the most photo challenges to win cash prizes.  More details coming soon - sponsored by Campus Activities Center

Friday, August 23

  • Pittsburg Art Walk - 5 PM - Downtown Pittsburg - Check out local artists, musicians and businesses in picturesque downtown - More information here.
  • Minute to Win It - 7 PM - location announced soon -  Come out for your chance to win some great prizes.  It only takes a minute! - sponsored by Residence Hall Assembly

 

Monday, August 26

  • Treat Night at the Movies - 7 PM at 109 Grubbs Hall - Get a treat and catch Fast & Furious 6 - sponsored by Student Activities Council

Tuesday, August 27

  • BSA, HOT, NASA & GSA Social - 8 PM at the U-Club - It's a great time to get to know some more people on campus and everyone is welcome at this mixer so stop by to see who's around - sponsored by Black Student Association, Hispanics of Today, Native American Student Association and Pittsburg State Gay Straight Alliance

Wednesday, August 28

  • Tom DeLuca - 7 PM & 9 PM (2 showtimes) in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom - We've hired the best for this year's hypnotist show.  Don't miss the show everyone will be talking about in class! - sponsored by Student Activities Council
