Each year PSU has very several exciting events in the first two weeks of the Fall semester.  This is a great chance for new students to get to know each other and the Pitt State culture.  It's also a wonderful opportunity for returning students to reconnect to the university.  Planning is currently underway for these events, but be sure to check back in June to see all the fun (and FREE) activities.

  • Glow Dance - 8 PM at Lindburg Plaza near the dining hall - Great tunes will be jamming so come meet some new faces and get your groove on - sponsored by Residence Hall Assembly

Sunday, August 21

  • Welcome Back Pool Party - 6 PM at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center - Free pizza, bottled water, door prizes and all the swimming you can handle!  Shuttles will be running between campus (the Overman Student Center) and the pool.

Monday, August 22

  • Classes begin

  • Opening Night at Cleveland Plaza - 8 PM outside between the Student Center and Horace Mann - Live music courtesy of the band, Soulicit - sponsored by Student Activities Council

Tuesday, August 23

  • Treat Night at the Movies - 7 PM at the U-Club Mini Theater - Get a treat and catch a Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides - sponsored by Student Activities Council
  • Self Defense Class - 6 PM to 8 PM in the Crimson & Gold Ballroom - Throw a few punches and learn some techniques to better protect yourself - sponsored by Student Activities Council and ROTC

Wednesday, August 23

  • Community Fair - 10:30 AM to 1 PM in the Oval - Meet lots of great businesses and organizations from the Pittsburg community.  This is a great way to find out what the town of Pittsburg has to offer, and there are usually some great freebies!

Thursday, August 24

  • Self Defense Class - 6 PM to 8 PM in the Crimson & Gold Ballroom - Throw a few punches and learn some techniques to better protect yourself - sponsored by Student Activities Council and ROTC

Friday, August 25

  • Jungle Nights - 10 PM to Midnight in the lower level of the Student Center - Catch a late night showing of the movie, get up on stage for some karaoke or show off your moves duing a Just Dance competition - sponsored by Gorillas in Your Midst, Residence Hall Assembly, and Student Activities Council

Thursday, September 1

  • Dale K - 7 PM & 9 PM (2 showtimes) in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom - Seriously funny hypnosis! Dale K is the only hypnotist to be nominated for Comedian of the Year.  He will have the audience in stitches as volunteers engage in some of the most hilarious hijinks.  Don't miss the show everyone will be talking about in class!
