Pittsburg State University students demonstrated their graphical skills at this year's ADDY Award ceremony in Joplin, taking home 27 awards.
"We had a great showing at this year's competition," said Christel Benson, PSU graphics and imaging instructor. "The fact that we had nearly 40 entries in this year's competition shows how passionate our students are about their work. The success is simply a reflection of the quality of our students and of our program."
The ADDY Award competition is the world's largest competition in the advertising industry, recognizing work from all types of media. The competition includes three rounds of judging for professionals and students. Those are local, regional and national. Winning pieces from the Joplin competition will be entered in the District 9 ADDY Award competition, which includes work from companies and schools throughout the Midwest in April.
Involvement in this competition not only helps as a resume builder, but also allows students to connect with business leaders in the industry.
"I have been looking for a job in the area since I graduated in December and just tonight I have spoken with three companies about my work," said Lauren White, Student Best of Show recipient. "It is great to have your work noticed by people in the industry and I would recommend getting involved in competitions like this to every student."
