Students, employers hope to make match at Career Day

One of Pittsburg State's most exciting events for students is happening Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Plaster Center, but it's not recreational nor entertainment.

It's the Spring Career Day, where students will begin in earnest to seek the one thing, other than a diploma, that they came to Pittsburg State for: a job.

Pittsburg State Career Services hosts the annual event to make the process more efficient for employers and for students. And this year, the process is even more efficient, thanks to an app called "Career Fair Plus."

Students attending Career Day can use the app to sort the anticipated 160 employers by specific major and job, and a map within the app will help students navigate their way through the event to find those employers. An added bonus: The app saves a great deal of paper, falling in line with PSU's focus on sustainability.
Last year, the fair drew record attendance with 750 students. Organizers are hoping to draw that many again on Wednesday.

Career Services also offers students professional attire for the event and for interviews via the Career Clothes Closet, available to students in Room 203 of Horace Mann throughout the semester. The items are donated by faculty, staff, and community on an ongoing basis.

And, for students who want headshots for professional use such as LinkedIn profiles, Gamma Epsilon Tau, the graphics arts honors society, will offer them at Career Day for $10.
