The Pitt State delegates to the NACURA (National Association of College and University Residence Halls) national conference came home with honors. The PSU students won two awards: Best Small School Banner and Best Small School Display.
The students said that with nearly 300 universities and colleges in attendance, winning both awards was a real honor. Six student members of the Residence Hall Assembly (RHA) and two advisers attended the conference, which was held at Western Illinois University.
"This is a recognition of the quality of the student leadership we have in the RHA, said Connie Malle, director of housing at PSU. "Their enthusiasm and work ethic is outstanding and they are a big reason why the on-campus living experience is such a good one at PSU."
More than 1,100 students live in campus housing during the fall and spring semesters. Malle said the RHA helps create a sense of community and involvement among the residents.
"That sense of community is a key factor when we look at student success," Malle said.
