The 2012-13 Solo and Chamber Music Series continues on Friday, Nov. 16, with a performance by the Baroque ensemble Wayward Sisters. The performance will be at 7:30 p.m. in McCray Hall.
Wayward Sisters is comprised of Beth Wenstrom (baroque violin), Anne Timberlake (recorders), Anna Steinhoff (baroque cello), and John Lenti (theorbo and guitar). In 2011, Wayward Sisters won the Early Music America/Naxos recording competition, and recorded their debut CD with Naxos during the 2011-2012 season.
Members of Wayward Sisters have studied historical performance at Oberlin Conservatory, Indiana University, and The Juilliard School. The name “Wayward Sisters” refers not only to Henry Purcell’s vivid conjuring of Shakespeare’s witches, but to the group members’ scattered lives and continuing commitment to making music together.
Tickets for the performance are $12 for general admission and $8 for persons over 65 or under 18. Tickets are available at the PSU Ticket Office in the Weede Physical Education Building, 620-235-4796, or online at www.pittstate.edu/tickets.
