PSU earns United Way 'Rockstar' award

For its contribution to this year’s United Way campaign, Pittsburg State University has been named “Rockstar of the Year.”

The United Way “Rockstar” award was given to the organization that “embodies the mission of United Way to give, advocate, and volunteer.”

This year, PSU faculty, staff and students combined to raise more than $11,600 for the United Way campaign. That’s an increase of more than $4,500 over last year’s contribution.

“United Way is extremely grateful for the support we receive from Pittsburg State University including its faculty, staff and students,” said Duane Dreiling, executive director of the

United Way of Southwest Missouri & Southeast Kansas. “With a more than $4,500 increase in contributions in 2016, PSU is truly our Rock Star in Southeast Kansas.”

Pittsburg State President Steve Scott said the university is proud to support the United Way.

“The United Way is a very important part of our community and region, and we’re grateful to receive the Rockstar Award this year,” Scott said. “I’m proud of our students, faculty and staff for their generous donations and support of this year’s campaign.”
