They’ve unpacked, met their roommates and started to make new friends, and on Sunday, more than 900 Pittsburg State University freshmen participated in a variety of fun activities designed to get them off to a good start when classes begin on Monday, Aug. 20.
Gorilla Warm-Ups is a long-running tradition for new freshman. Two of the activities included in the day are memorable. In the afternoon, freshmen lined up for a chance to ring the Centennial Bell. It is a tradition they will repeat when the graduate. Then they all gathered in Carnie Smith Stadium for a class photo.
The freshmen completed the day’s activities with a pool party at the Pittsburg Aquatic Center.
Over the next several weeks, PSU’s Campus Activities Center will sponsor a number of events to keep students -- especially its newest ones -- involved on campus. First up among them will be the Community Fair from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 22, on the Oval.
