Pittsburg State University will celebrate undergraduate and graduate student research at its annual Research Colloquium on Thursday, April 6, in the Overman Student Center. Students are scheduled to make 40 oral research presentations during the event and nearly 90 poster presentations will be on display.

Pawan Kahol, dean of graduate and continuing studies, said research is an important part of a university education, regardless of the field of study.

“As an institution of higher learning, we have to be active participants in creating new knowledge, learning about what is being created, and preparing our students to become critical thinkers and researchers,” Kahol said. “New knowledge makes it possible to discover new realities and bring change, regardless of the discipline.”

Student researchers will make oral presentations, beginning at 8:30 a.m. Science and technology presentations will take place from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Governors Room. Business, education and social science presentations will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the Sunflower Room. Creative works presentations are scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Governors Room.

Poster presentations will be displayed in the Crimson and Gold Ballroom throughout the day.
