In conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week in Kansas, Mike McCracken, director of the Pittsburg State University Police, will conduct two information sessions on safety and campus emergency preparedness this week. The sessions will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, and at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 15. Both will be in the Governors Room of the student center.
McCracken said because the spring severe storm season is just beginning, much of the information he will share will be about tornadoes and severe thunderstorms, but he will also touch on other types of emergency situations.
The sessions will cover the campus notification systems and will address both preparedness and actions to take when emergency notifications are given.
“Events of the past year have been a tragic reminder of the power of nature,” McCracken said. “A little bit of information now could save lives at some time in the future.”
