Campus mourns death of student in traffic accident

President Steve Scott issued the following statement Thursday upon learning of the death of PSU student Matthew S. Wright. Wright, a Gardner, Kan., native, passed away as a result of a two-vehicle accident early Thursday morning at the intersection of K-126 and Free King Highway in Pittsburg.

President Steve Scott issued the following statement Thursday upon learning of the death of PSU student Matthew S. Wright. Wright, a Gardner, Kan., native, passed away as a result of a two-vehicle accident early Thursday morning at the intersection of K-126 and Free King Highway in Pittsburg.

"My heart goes out to all those involved in this morning's accident. I extend my deepest sympathies to Matthew's family and friends and offer condolences on behalf of the entire Pittsburg State University community."

Wright was in his sophomore year and was majoring in mechanical engineering technology.

Counselors are available to students and staff on campus.
