Employees in the Office of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education put the final touches on their office decoration Wednesday.

A number of PSU offices put some extra effort into their entries for this week’s Paint the Town Red competition, sponsored by the Pittsburg Area Chamber of Commerce. Judging for local schools took place on Sept. 5, while campus and residential judging takes place on Thursday, Sept. 6. Business displays will be judged on Friday, Sept. 7.

In addition to decorating, the annual event includes activities throughout the week, beginning with a community pep rally at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 6, in Gorilla Village.

On Friday, area third graders will come to Carnie Smith Stadium where PSU athletes will sign autographs at 1:30 p.m. and a rally for the youngsters will begin at 2 p.m. At 6 p.m. that day, the Chamber will host “Meet and Greet the Gorillas” in Europe Park.

The Chamber of Commerce hosts Paint the Town Red each fall in the week preceding the first home PSU football game. The Gorillas open their home season at 6 p.m. on Saturday against the University of Central Oklahoma.
