Big Event seeks student volunteers, deadline March 2

Pittsburg State students still have a little over a week to sign up to help with the 12th annual Big Event. The deadline to register as a volunteer is Monday, March 2.

Pittsburg State students still have a little over a week to sign up to help with the 12th annual Big Event. The deadline to register as a volunteer is Monday, March 2.

The Big Event, an annual, massive community service project sponsored by PSU’s Student Government Association. The project sends students across the city where they will work at more than 100 homes. More than 860 students volunteered in 2014.

This year’s Big Event will take place on Saturday, April 11.

The Big Event was created in 1982 at Texas A&M University as a way of saying “Thank You” to the surrounding community. Envisioned as a one-day service project, the event allows students to show their appreciation for local residents by completing various tasks at their homes. Since its inception, the Big Event has expanded to middle schools, high schools, and universities nationwide.
