Position Responsibilities: The Bicknell Family Center for the Arts is looking for a Technical Director. The TD will be responsible for the technical and stage services of the new Bicknell Family Center for the Arts which houses two performance halls, an art gallery, a workspace for an artist-in–residence, a private reception room, a multiuse rehearsal space for large musical groups, and various technical and support spaces. It is the duty of the Technical Director to guarantee the safe and successful execution of events through the successful operation and staffing of events by way of effective planning and organization of technical services. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: technical crew hiring, training, management, scheduling, and supervision, expense and inventory tracking for technical services, design of artistic technical elements, production and facility safety, and coordination of technical services with performing groups. The main stage is equipped with a full fly system and 72 ft open grid, the TD will have to work comfortable at height.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in technical theater or related field; Master’s of Fine Arts (MFA) in technical theatre preferred. Minimum 4 years’ experience in technical theater production including 2 years managerial experience. Experience in a higher education setting preferred. Experience in technical theatre and stage management techniques including lighting and sound plots, stage sets and drawings, rigging and ground plans; state-of-the-art theatre equipment and materials; safety rules and practices pertaining to backstage theatre work; Computer experience including Computer Aided Design, "office software", i.e. word processor, spreadsheets and database. Communicate clearly and concisely, in writing, as evidenced by application materials.
