PSU contributes a percentage based on the employee's gross wage for unemployment compensation insurance (UCI). Unemployment compensation insurance provides temporary pay to eligible unemployed individuals. The current employer percentage rate is 0.2% of the applicable gross wages.

Certain employees may be exempt from unemployment compensation insurance. Student employees and graduate assistants and certain non-resident aliens are exempt from UCI.
