Welcome to Pittsburg State University. As a new Non-Benefits Eligible Classified Employee of PSU and the Kansas State Board of Regents, you will be provided with lots of information not only about your job duties and responsibilities, but also about employment with the State of Kansas.
New employees should report to Human Resources Services, 204 Russ Hall, on or before the first day of work to complete the necessary forms and obtain instructions on how to get an ID card, computer access and login, and parking permit.
Following is an outline of paperwork to complete to place you on payroll and topics which should be reviewed as part of your new employee orientation.

On or before your first day at work:
During your first week at work:
During your first 30 days at work, the following topics should be reviewed with you by your supervisor:
During your first 90 days at work:
On or before your first day at work:
- Complete the following required paperwork and bring with you to the Office of Human Resource Services, 204 Russ Hall:
Substance Abuse Policy Affirmation Form
- Complete the following optional paperwork and bring with you to HRS:
Direct Deposit (EFT) Authorization - please bring a deposit slip or voided check with your completed form - for more information review Direct Deposit of Paycheck.
- Prepare to complete the following required paperwork in the Office of Human Resource Services by reviewing the following topics:
I-9 Form - please bring appropriate identification
Review I-9 Form and Compliance
Review Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
- Obtain the following in HRS:
On-the-Job Accidents and Workers Compensation
University Police Brochure
- Obtain a PSU Parking Hanger from the University Police and Parking Services Office. Fees for parking vary according to Zone. Click here for more information regarding University Police and Parking Services
- Review the following topics on the HRS Website:
Payroll Information
Payroll is processed on a biweekly basis. All employees (Classified, Unclassified, Graduate Assistants and Students) with Direct Deposit will have their paycheck stubs mailed to their home address from Topeka. Paychecks without Direct Deposit will be mailed to their home address.
Miscellaneous Information
During your first week at work:
- Obtain a PSU Photo Identification Card from the Ticket Office located in the Overman Student Center.
- Obtain a Computing System Login, E-Mail address and GUS Pin from the Office of Information Systems located in 109 Whitesitt Hall.
During your first 30 days at work, the following topics should be reviewed with you by your supervisor:

- Timesheet Procedures
- Department Specific Policies and Procedures
