General Information

Important: Pittsburg has extended its OPEN WIRELESS into the residential Dorms. This means you can now have free open wireless most anywhere on campus. This will give you Two Mac addresses that you can register. In order to use the additional connections in the residence halls, you must first register your computer through the wired connection in your room. Once you have registered your computer through the wired connection, you must access your GUS menu and enter the MAC address of your Additional Device. There are instructions for obtaining Additional MAC addresses in the left hand colum of this page.

ResNet will not allow connections from Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows ME computers. Those students running these operating systems MUST upgrade to either Windows 2000, XP or Vista to join ResNet.

Pitt State has partnered with e-Academy.com to provide Microsoft software at low prices. Windows Vista Business currently costs $67.15 (+s/h) through this program. To view available software, check pricing, and make purchases log into GUS and click on "Purchase Microsoft Software" at the bottom of the Personal Information section. Note: Students must be enrolled in at least one credit hour to be eligable for this offer (meaning: you can't purchase anything until after your PITT C.A.R.E.S. date).

ResNet (Residential Network) is a joint project between University Housing and the Office of Information Services to provide network services to students living in residence halls on the PSU campus. ResNet connections provide quick access to campus systems like: GUS, GorillaMail, Angel, library resources (including card catalogs and search engines) and a host of other educational services.
