Bert Patrick

Dr. Bert Patrick has been teaching at PSU since 1969. He represented the Kansas Regents Universities in 1984 in Asunción, Paraguay resulting in the present student/ faculty exchange programs with universities in Paraguay.  He served as President of the Sunflower Chapter of the KFLA in 1990-1991 and has been awarded three grants by the Kansas Board of Regents and the Kansas Council on the Humanities in 1984, 1989 and 1992.  From 1977 through 2003, he directed PSU study abroad programs in Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica and Russia.  PSU recognized him with the Outstanding Teaching Faculty award in 1992 and he has been nominated for this honor five additional times.  Dr. Patrick was awarded a Fulbright Fellowship in 2003 to work with the faculty of the Department of Foreign Languages at Kazan State Agricultural Academy in Kazan, Russia.  In the fall of 2004, he was a Visiting Professor in the Department of Romance and Germanic Philology at Kazan State University.

Teaching Emphasis
Spanish American theater and civilization and Hispanic art and film.


Hobbies
Dr. Patrick enjoys reading literature, history and psychology, writing, growing plants and flowers, traveling, trying new foods, going for walks, birding, swimming, listening to jazz, classical music and operas, attending performances in the Solo and Chamber Music series, watching PSU football and basketball games, and enjoying a good movie with friends.
