The Youth & Adolescent Development minor assists in preparing professionals who will work with older children and families or with programs for the betterment of children and families. Students and faculty share the responsibility for learning, discovering and applying knowledge. This minor fits very well with those majoring in Psychology, Sociology, Recreation, or Physical Education. There are also specific courses that would be of benefit to anyone teaching at the secondary level.

Potential employment opportunities include

  • Advocate for children and families
  • Youth Program leader (Scouts, 4-H, Community Recreation, etc)
  • YMCA/YWCA
  • Graduate studies
