Professional Interests
My professional interests include history of costume, and the study of dress as it relates to gender and sexuality. Specifically, my research endeavors have included a comparison study of gender differences in pre- and post-Enlightenment Italian dress, and the influence of fashion on 19th century textile mill workers’ dress and an analysis of the messages about domesticity and feminity that are communicated through post-WWII hygiene advertisements. Areas of study in my doctoral education include 19th and 20th century U.S. women’s history, gender studies, textual analysis, and dress studies.
