Course Committees
The department also maintains the following four course committees:
1. Composition
- The Director (or Co-Directors) of Composition
- The Director of Computers and Writing
- One other full-time or tenure-earning faculty member
- Two experienced part-time instructors (defined as having taught in the Pittsburg State composition program for at least one year previously) who regularly teach ENGL 101 and/or 299
- To establish and coordinate course policies, standards, and requirements for ENGL 101 and 299.
- To manage day-to-day aspects of ENGL 101 and 299.
- To coordinate textbook selection for ENGL 101 and 299.
2. Creative Writing
- All faculty who teach creative writing courses.
- To monitor and recommend changes of the creative writing curriculum.
3. General Literature
- Appointed by the department chairperson from among faculty who regularly teach General Literature 113.
- To monitor compliance with the aims of the General Education Program of the University as outlined in the common goals and objectives of the General Literature 113 syllabus.
- To assist faculty in selecting appropriate course texts.
4. Technical/Professional Writing
- Director of Technical/Professional Writing
- the Technical/Professional Writing faculty of any given semester
- To assist the director in coordinating the program.
- To update the contents and format of the course handbook on a regular basis.
- To choose texts.
