The Writing Center is a tutoring facility provided free-of-charge by the English Department to assist students with their writing needs. Students needing assistance may drop by the Center on their own initiative or their instructors may require them to seek help, either individually or as a course requirement.
The Center is open to all students from freshmen through graduate students and offers tutorial assistance with course writing assignments as well as with more personal writing needs such as résumé preparation or preparation for the English portion of the PPST.
The Center is staffed by writing tutors trained to assist the student in developing effective writing behaviors throughout the writing process. Tutors do not do any work for the student, whether it be brainstorming, drafting, revising, or proofreading; rather they assist the student in learning how to do these tasks for themselves.
The Center is located in 114 Grubbs Hall, ext. 4694. The Writing Center Director is Dr. John Franklin 445 Grubbs Hall ext. 4693 e-mail: jfrankli@pittstate.edu.
