Faculty Receive Eichhorn Fellowships
Four Department faculty took advantage of Eichhorn Fellowships during the 2005-06 academic year to work on special projects.
Dr. Kathy De Grave took a one-course reduction in her teaching load in the fall semester to work on a novel. Dr. Celia Patterson took a course off to begin writing a textbook for her document design class. In the spring semester Dr. Casie Hermansson is taking a course off to continue research begun on her sabbatical on the Bluebeard legends. Professor Laura Washburn will use her one-course reduction to work on several poetry book manuscripts.
Funds to support Eichhorn faculty development grants came from a bequest the department received in 2001 from the estate of the late William and Mary Emma Eichhorn. The endowment supports professional development activities for English Department full-time faculty, part-time faculty, and students. Full-time faculty selected as Eichhorn Fellows may use their grants to reduce their teaching loads by one course to work on special projects, or to fund sabbatical activities or other professional development needs, such as the purchase of professional materials. Any additional funds may be made available in small grants to full-time and part-time faculty and to students to fund professional travel and other professional development activities and needs.
