DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Artist and curator Andrew Casto will present a group showing of ceramicists titled “We Meet in Iowa”, exhibited in the University Gallery in Porter Hall. The exhibit features the work of ceramicists Andrew Casto, Bunny McBride, Reagan Yoder, Mat Rude, Matt Dercole, Heidi Casto, Benjamin Upchurch, Hannah Weinman, Joseph Meinecke, and Angela Dieffenbach. Andrew Casto, and two of the artists Matthew Dercole, and Angela Deiffenbach will deliver public lectures on Janurary 16, 2013 at 5:00 pm in Room 409 of Russ Hall, followed by a reception at 6:00 pm in Porter Hall.     The included artists work within a broad sense of modern ceramics, each with a distinct vision of the medium. Displaying highly narrative pieces which explore a breadth of classical subject matter through abstractions on the human figure, the figurine, and the exploration of surface design are each expressed in elaborate, sculptural pieces and wood-fired vessels rich with textural interest.     Each artist poses a unique resolution of the material obstacles that must be solved to     complete such complex work within the medium of ceramics.
