Student Education Programs
Senior Gift Program:
From 1906, the graduating classes of Pittsburg State University have given a gift to commemorate and celebrate their graduation. The program ceased in the mid-70's and was re-established in 1993. The gift from the Classes of 1993, 94, 94, and 96 is a bell tower located on the grassy area near the southwest corner of Axe Library. Other class gifts include: Classes of 1997, 1998, and 1999 - Gorilla carving on the Oval; Class of 2000 - Century Fountain; Class of 2001 - Eternal Flame/Reflecting Pool; Class of 2002 - Assist with Centennial Mural; and Class of 2003 - Welcoming Arch.
Senior class gifts represent an appreciation for the education acquired at Pittsburg State. The class gift also symbolizes a commitment to the University in its continuing effort to impart these same values, experiences and skills to future classes.
Student Foundation Board:
The purpose of the Student Foundation Board is to serve as a student group liaison for the PSU Foundation, Inc. and to assist with its many endeavors to benefit the university community. They oversee the Senior Class Gift Program; President's Update for Students; the Honorary Family Awards; and other programs as appropriate.
Honorary Family:
A special event during Family Day at Pittsburg State University is the recognition of a Honorary Family. Students nominate their families by completing a questionnaire which is evaluated by a committee of students, alumni and faculty. The Honorary Family is recognized at half-time of the Family Day football game.
