Campaign Description Summary
The Campaign for Pittsburg State University, a $120 million university-wide fundraising initiative, will enhance PSU's ability to compete for the best students and faculty. The 10 year, two phase campaign has already begun to make a major impact on PSU. Over $25 million in gifts for Phase One of the campaign was realized in FY05. The goal for Phase One was to raise $25 million in private support for scholarships, faculty endowments, and funds for international student recruitment and programming. While certain areas of Phase One are still in need of additional private gifts, the primary goal of doubling the PSU foundation's scholarship endowment has been accomplished.
Work on Phase Two of the campaign continues. This portion of the initiative is focused on raising $95 million for the renovation and construction of campus facilities. While fundraising continues on the two main facilities in Phase Two: the $25 million College of Business building and the $30 million Fine and Performing Arts Center, several smaller projects have either recently been completed or are currently under construction. The west side expansion of Carnie Smith Stadium, the Student Recreation/Readiness Center, and the Kansas Polymer Research Center are all Phase Two campaign projects that have been made possible in part or in their entirety by private gifts. The successful completion of Phase Two will represent a major change in the physical appearance of the campus and the addition of several state-of-the-art facilities to better educate the university's students.
