OASIS (Older Adult Screening And Intervention Services)
The Older Adult Screening and Intervention Services (OASIS) provides screening for memory and other thinking changes commonly found in people with dementia, like Alzheimer's Disease. Following a telephone interview and screening appointment, a written report about changes in memory and other thinking abilities will be sent to participants' physicians for follow-up care. Early screening of symptoms may help physicians make a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease and related conditions and begin medical treatment.
Goals of OASIS also include educating participant and family members about available medical treatments, and helping identify community resources that will enhance the quality of life of people with dementia and their caregivers. Early screening and intervention is critical and helps people with dementia and their family members make decisions about medical concerns, legal issues, finances, driving, and home safety.
