The Marketing Association at Pittsburg State University is a student organization that aims to enhance marketing education through a number of group activities, events, networking, and field trips. The association is governed by student officers, including a president, a vice-president, a secretary, and a treasurer. The group is advised by a faculty member from the Department of Management and Marketing.
The group participates in two field trips during the academic year. Students have the opportunity to join professional organizations such as the American Marketing Association and the Academy of Marketing Science.
The primary focus of the Marketing Association is to supplement classroom education with a variety of hands-on experiences for the group. One major focus each year is a fundraising effort, selling "Gorilla Garb." Students market a variety of PSU items during the Gorilla Garb months. The money from these sales can be devoted to a field trip where students can gain insight into how marketing firms operate. The group has traveled to several locations over the past few years, including Kansas City, San Diego, New York, Dallas, Phoenix, and Chicago.
