FCS Scholarship Information

Applying for on-campus FCS Scholarships

Each January and February it is time to apply for departmental scholarships. This is an easy process, but it is one that most students do not take advantage of. Go to the financial aid page and follow the directions. You need to end up on the University application for scholarship page. Please read through the information provided to learn the steps of the process.

The scholarships awarded by the department include:

FCS-Gibson/Phi Upsilon Omicron Scholarship - for members of the FCS Honor Society

FCS-Alumni Scholarship, Mary Kern martin Scholarship, FCS-Gibson Scholarship, FCS-Carrie Williams Scholarship, FCS-Gina Sharp Scholarship, FCS-Sue Hippensteel Scholarship, FCS-Educational Opportunity Scholaship, Anita K. Laurent Scholarship, William H. & June Stewart Munday Scholarship - these are for all FCS students.

Lynette J. Olson FCS Leadership Scholarship

Goppert Foundation Scholarship - for FCS Education majors

Greater Kansas City Family & Consumer Sciences Scholarship

*** There will be at least three $1,000 scholarships given again this year.  Applicants should be students pursuing undergraduate degrees in Family & Consumer Sciences and its knowledge-based areas:  Family and Consumer Sciences Education, Dietetics,Nutrition, Health and Food management, Human Development and Family Relations, Apparel Design, Textiles, and Merchandising, Housing and Development, Child Development, Consumer Economics and Resource management, FCS Education Extension.

      Applications must be submitted online and the deadline is April 1, 2018.

      Undergraduate Student Eligibility:

      Must be a current resident of Kansas or Missouri
Must be a junior or senior at an accredited college of university
Must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in FACS or any of its knowledge-based areas
must be enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours
Must have average or above-average scholastic standing

Kansas Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (KAFCS)  - Due Feb 15, 2018

KAFCE Scholarship - *June Deadline

Anita K. Laurent Scholarship - There is an application in addition to meeting all scholarship requirements through the normal PSU process.  Due Date is February 1st every year.  (Word doc)

Ruth B. Sayre Scholarship - This memorial scholarship of $500.00 is offered for the purpose of fostering educational development of women. 

National Retail Federation Ray Greenly Scholarship 2017 - Begin accepting applications: 2/02/2017. Deadline date: 4/3/2017 11:59 pm. This scholarship is open to sophomore, junior and senior undergraduate and graduate students enrolled full-time at any accredited US college or university.  

National Retail Federation Foundation Scholarships - NRF offers a variety of scholarship programs for students and retail workers seeking to enhance their retail education and careers.  

Scholarships available through AAFCS (American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences)

Kansas Nutrition Council Scholarship - $1,000
Applicants must be Kansas residents who are going to be juniors or seniors or graduate students enrolled at a college or university located in Kansas.  The must be majoring in nutrition, dietetics, Family & Consumer Sciences or a related subject.  Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.  Applications are available online.

PAVE Applications for the 2018 Eric Feigenbaum Academic Scholarship:  The 2016 Eric Feigenbaum Academic Scholarship is funded by B+N Industries.  This award recognizes and supports leadership potential in the retail design field through a $5,000 award.  The Scholarship is solely academic based.  Guidelines, requirements, and the application can be found on the PAVE website.  Applications must be received by February 29, 2016.  Direct all inquiries to pave@paveinfo.org.
