Becky Gray
The Southeast Kansas Community Action Program (SEK-CAP) recently announced the employment of Rebecca "Becky" Gray, a Pittsburg State University (PSU) English graduate student, and her appointment to their organization's Management Team. Deputy Director Linda Broyles said, "Becky will serve as the Director of Research, Planning, and Grants Development. Her work is a critical component of our administrative services and we welcome the considerable expertise and enthusiasm that she brings to this position."
Becky is a graduate of Rogers State University and is nearing completion of her MA in English, Professional Writing and Rhetoric at PSU. She also served as an instructor and graduate assistant in the English Department. "Her advanced writing abilities and exceptional organizational skills will be a great addition to our team," said Ms Broyles.
Becky credits the English Department's Professional Writing and Rhetoric program for providing her with many of her job skills. "I apply the theories and techniques I learned at PSU to my work on a daily basis," she said. "In the past, I approached document design intuitively, but now I understand the research and theories that support and guide my design decisions."
Becky appreciates the mentoring she received from her Professional Writing and Rhetoric instructors. "My professors not only provided theoretical and practical instruction, they also encouraged me professionally and personally. I was supported in my desire to focus on the specific area of composition in which I was most interested-namely, writing for the government."
