Hydrostatic Transmission Simulator
This simulator was built by students using an Eaton Model 39 heavy duty pump and an Eaton Model 33 heavy duty hydraulic motor, donated by Eaton Corporation. The 3 speed transmission gear box was donated by CaseIH. The 3 speed gear box was originally used for a Cotton Picker, students converted it to a combine transmission which allowed the hydraulic motor to be bolted directly to the 3 speed gear box.
The engine is a Series 60 11L donated by Detroit Diesel. This simulator works as an excellent training aid for AT 654 Advanced Hydraulic Systems because the 3 speed gear box utilizes a set of self contained wet brakes. The brakes allow the transmission to be loaded in class up to 5,000 PSI of drive pressure! The following hydraulic pressures are measured in the lab: charge, case, forward/reverse servo, case, forward drive, and reverse drive pressure.
